Dark and Lonely water

Dark and Lonely Water is a horror live action roleplaying game for 12 participants inspired by Scottish history, myths and legends, as well as works of isolation horror such as The Thing, The Terror and Annihilation.

This is a collaboration between Coffin Roads LRP and Clarion LARP Productions.

The setting is 1996, the location is Scotland, UK. We will begin in the city of Glasgow, and travel together into the Highlands.

The first run of this game is December 2026. Sign-ups are open now!

It's the end of the world as we know it. The undead plague of 2025 resulted in the death of 90% of the world population. Civilisation shattered into a million tiny enclaves, all desperately trying to survive as wider society crumbled. Our game focuses on the meeting of two very different groups: a band of hardened survivalists who trust no-one, and a group of optimistic settlers who have carved out a safe haven in the remote hills of Scotland. We aim to explore the meaning and value of community in this post-apocalyptic setting. This is a very low combat game for 25 players.

Following a successful run of this game in March 2024 we are planning a second run soon!

Wise Women

This is a game in which we collaborate to tell the stories of gifted women in a small island community in the 1950s. These women are all related to one another in some way- we explore both happy and dysfunctional family relationships. Our Wise Women are able to predict the fortunes of the men at sea, and in some small ways

influence them. There is a lot of opportunity here for solo roleplaying as

well as intense interpersonal drama.

GROUP SINGING is a central part of this game, however no song learning prior to the event is required. No experience of singing or a 'good voice' is necessary. We have a song leader who will run workshops prior to the start of the game to ensure everyone is comfortable. Our intention in using song as a central theme in this game is to feel the bonds formed during this collaborative experience, rather than to have a perfect performance. We aim to portray realistic characters rather than professional singers!

We ran this game twice in winter 2025, and hope to bring it back for more runs soon.

One run prioritises setting aesthetics, and the other prioritises financial and physical accessibility.
